DETROIT HONORS FOUR TOPS' LEVI STUBBS
2/05/04
Levi Stubbs, the incomparable vocalist of Motown Records' legendary
supergroup, the Four Tops, is being honored by his friends, family, fans, and supporters,
during a very special celebration entitled It's All the Way Live with Levi - 50 Years
& Still Going, featuring the Four Tops.
Levi has not been performing with the group since
2000. He is home recovering from a mild heart attack and a stroke. The party is being put
together to boost his spirits, get him on the fast track to recovery and help him
participate in the 50th Anniversary activities with his fellow Tops. Levi needs the
prayers and support of his Motown Family, friends, and supporters so you're invited to
come out and party "live" with Levi.
The Four Tops, the only Motown recording group that has stayed together for more than half
a century, will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary with this party. In fact, next to
the Dells, they are the only living Rhythm and Blues group alive and still performing. A
very special video presentation showcasing 50 years with the Four Tops will be screened
along with some very important video greetings from Musical Superstars at the 2004
Grammys. The hostess for the evening will be the "first lady of Motown"
Claudette Robinson of the
Miracles, and Mary Wilson of the Supremes, along with other surprise guest hosts.
Additionally, a special Pictorial Book of Memories of Levi and the Four Tops is planned.
WHEN: During Black History Month. Wednesday, February 25, 2004 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
WHERE: At the Roostertail Club in Detroit Michigan.
The Rooster Club is one of the top clubs in Detroit, a showcase for all of the early
Motown acts. In fact, the Four Tops recorded their first live album, and a television
special with the Temptations for Showtime on The Roostertail Club stage.
As in the golden days of Motown Mondays at the Roostertail, when the mike was always
"open" this party will be jumpin' and it's anyone's guess who will
entertain with a song or two. One thing for sure, there will be plenty of dancing,
games, food and fun. They expect to see some of Levi's closest friends such as Aretha
Franklin, Stevie Wonder, the Temptations, the Contours, the Marvelettes and the Spinners.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Gwendolyn B. Fuqua Memorial Fund to assist Motown
artists of the 60's and 70's with important financial resources for health, welfare and
medical expenses. Please visit www.rhythm-n-blues.org
for more information on the many services and programs provided by the Rhythm and Blues
Foundation.
As a friend, fan, or supporter of the Four Tops you can attend this exciting party event.
Ticket purchases will be available through Ticketmaster outlets for $60.00. For
